  1. Selam Misghina Habte

Congratulations to Selam Misghina Habte!

Selam Misghina Habte , the daughter of Misghina Habte Amanuel and Kedesti Solomon Beyed, members of KWH, graduated from Centennial High, School at Champaign Illinois on 05/25/21.  Selam did a great job, she received an Academic Letter Award, a Silver Cord for her 3.76/4.0 GPA and a Red Cord for donating blood as a member of NHS. She came to the United States of America  as a refugee immigrant from Eritrea East Africa in 2018 at the age of 17 with no knowledge of the English language. Her personal goal was to attend high school and graduate from high school successfully. The school and many others worked diligently with her to help her as a graduating junior by taking more classes per semester than most students so she could reach her goal before turning 21. She has not only reached that goal, but she did it with HONORS. This was an amazing achievement for someone who knew very little- if any- English when she arrived in the US.  She is determined to make it atop and live  “The American Dream” we all know so well.
